I. Content: Directions.
II. Prerequisites: Students do not need an advanced level of proficiency in the English Language, but they should have participated in the two previous classes.
III. Objectives:
v Students will be able to identify directions with voice commands.
v Students will learn the verbs TO TURN (voltear), TO WALK (caminar), TO STOP (parar/detenerse), TO
CRAWL (gatear), TO GO BACK (devolverse) and TO JUMP (saltar) by performing them in the game field.
v Students will also learn the words RIGHT (derecha), LEFT (izquierda), QUICKLY (rapidamente), A
LITTLE (un poco), and STRAIGHT AHEAD (derecho), SLOWLY (despacio) combining them with the verbs.
v Students will learn commands and how to identify them by performing the actions.
IV. Instructional Procedures:
-The students will be shown a gymnastic routine by the teacher performing the action verbs.
-After the routine is established by the teacher, students will be asked to follow the teacher steps.
-Some of the students will be asked to conduct the routine by saying the action verbs while
performing the routine.
-Students will have a break while sharing their feelings about the previous activity.
-Students will be conducted to a labyrinth traced with some ropes on the basketball court.
-Students will be asked to get into pairs.
-Students will be told the words that they need for guiding their pair in the labyrinth by two teachers
playing the game.
-Students will be asked the new words to make sure that they have the tools to play the game.
-One student of the pairs will be blindfolded. The student that is not blindfolded will be asked to
guide his/her pair through the labyrinth.
-The rest of students will block their mouth with the handkerchiefs in order to avoid confusion to the blindfolded student.
-The first round will be just a game. The second round will be a competition.
-The pair of students that obtain the flags that are in the labyrinth in the shortest possible time will
win the game.
-The best time will win a gold medal for both students.
-The second best time will win a silver medal for both students.
-The third best time will win a bronze medal for both students.
-There will be a special award for the best couple with fair play.
V. Materials and equipment:
-Handkerchiefs
VI. Assessment/Evaluation:
-The medals will be the appreciation of good or not so good job during the class.
VII. Self-Assessment (Students and Teachers):
-Students will be asked to recall all the activities done during the class.
-Students will be asked about their opinions about the activities (trust, team working, cheating).
-Students will be asked to express their feelings when the award time took place (confidence, envy,
jealousy, pride).
-Teachers assessment will be done after class.
